Openers

1)  The sound of metal smashing against metal rang out in the distance. It seemed to echo throughout the seemingly huge underground tunnel. Theres was no way Drake could go back.

2) Wizards. Typical. They always appear when you least expect it. Usually with bad news too. Especially since the event that happened back in Shaul’Gar.

3) “Bananas!”

“Apples!”

The children stared at each other and then at the old lady standing in front of them. She smiled in a way that reminded Jerome of a witch.

4) Jake awoke gasping for air. He looked around him. Streams of sunlight were already shining through the curtain blinds. His head was throbbing for some reason. He tried sitting up, then realized he could not. What was wrong? He felt lighter too. He looked at his legs and screamed.

5) Love is just an illusion for a hopeless heart. Or at least that what I used to believe in until I met Karen.

6) The refreshing cold lemonade on a hot sunny day at the beach. Its been a long time since I had a vacation like this. The kids are also having a heck of a time playing in the cool seawater. A thought suddenly came to my mind. I wonder if that old lady down the street is okay. I heard she hurt her leg while carrying a crate around early this morning. Crazy old hoot blamed it on the ground moving. A shout from one the kids broke my chain of thought. Something about catching a couple fishes. I looked out down the beach and suddenly noticed something wrong. Terribly wrong. There was no water at all. The horizon was also transformed into a foamy stretch. Shit.

7) Despair. Anger. Regret. The three things I felt when she dumped me for that two-faced monster who was once my best friend.

8) A scrawny hand covered with slime materialized in the darkness. “Come”, a voice said. Greg looked back. It was probably the last time he’ll ever taste fresh air. He took a breath which he felt might be his last. Hesitantly, he obeyed the voice calling out to him and stepped into the cave.

9) Greetings human. You’re probably wondering why I’m speaking to you like this. I apologise for such an improper introduction but we do not have much time. My memory is fading fast so I’ll make this quick. I used to be a human like you on this planet once called Terruse’qur. My name is Farrase and this is my story.

10) “You must be wondering why I’ve gathered all of you here today.”
